Salam alaykum, and greetings earthlings! :)
Today I had just finish my very first practical paper for final exam when I rushed back and called my mom.
She told me about the bowel changes she had for the past few days and I diagnosed her that she probably having internal bleedings. Fear of my diagnose becoming true, I advised her to go for actual check-up with the General Practicer, as I'm not yet eligible to hold that status of a doctor because I haven't graduated yet from Medical School! Ehek.
She went to the doctor to the nearest clinic, and the doctor said the same thing, and she was then referred to Emergency Ward at PPUM. Supposed she went there last night, but due to some issues, she waited till this morning. The doctor was quite mad at her because she came to the hospital quite late then she supposed too. The doctor was worried if the prognosis was right, it might danger my mother's life.
However, Alhamdulillah, praise to Allah, that the check-up revealed nothing abnormal changes especially in her blood. Though the doctor said that my mother should eat more because her blood volume is low. *Mama was so surprised that the doctor asked her to eat more, because she said she ate everything she could! XD*
She was then scheduled to have endoscopy in 2 weeks just to confirm that there's no bleeding at all. InsyaAllah everything will be alright. :)
The changes we were talking about here is the colour of your stool. You might have gone to the toilet everyday and just flush everything away, no? Heheh. Everybody does, but sometime do peek at your poop if there is anything weird about it. Especially the colour. It can tell us what is happening in our body.
There are many factors that may cause the stool of yours to change in colour. It can be what you were eating, which is benign, or it can be what happened in your body which is need to be supervised.
For a simple example, if we are taking Iron as our dietary supplement especially in anaemic patient, they'll find their stool colour changes from brownish to black. This is due to the intake of Iron they were taking. Same goes to beets or any food that may cause this benign changes.
However, the one we fear most is internal bleeding. Internal bleeding can cause the colour of stool to turn black too. Especially in the higher gastrointestinal system, such as stomach. It may also occur to any other part of the GIT system.
Not only black, there are other colours too. Every each of them may tell us another different stories.
So people, take note! These little changes do affect our lives! Consult with your doctor if you find these changes occur to you, okay? There's no harm of being aware. :)
InsyaAllah, if there's more to tell about these changes, I'll share with you!
p/s: Alhamdulillah...mama is okay, I feel relieved! :D *Okay bai, nak tidur!*

Large amount of beets also do the trick. :)
